Hello Team!

Happy 1st June!! I hope you are all well and keeping safe! This weather is gorgeous, I hope you have all been enjoying the weather, (safely I might add!)

If you would like to email anything you have been up to with your families then please please please do at EMYear2@englishmartyrs.lancs.sch.uk smiley

Keep up the hard work, remember YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!!!

This weeks tasks:

Literacy

Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B33hZSjyeO0

Can you follow the link and listen to the story Lost and Found.

After reading the story I would like you to research Penguins and create a fact file all about them.

You could include things such as;

  • Where they come from
  • What they like to do
  • What they look like (using adjectives to describe.)

Maths

I hope you all enjoyed creating the different amounts with the coins last week. This week the activities on Purple Mash are:

  • Tally Charts
  • Bar charts
  • Venn Diagram - we haven't focused this in class yet but have a go or ask mums and dads to help you :)
  • Bar Chart with questions

PE

Have a look at PE with Joe Wicks - little bit longer this one!!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKhGfdSvG3s

RE

This weeks focus is Noah's Ark.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_vjjhMWJ2wE - Here is an animation for you to watch.

God had made a beautiful world for all to enjoy, look after and love. However, people did not do this, they did not treat it properly and God was not happy. So, there was a flood. Noah was spoken to by God, he was asked to build an ark to save the people and animals. Noah did as God asked.

At the end of the story, God created a rainbow, it was a symbol of hope, a symbol of a promise that He made to the people of the world. That He would keep them safe.

Pope Francis also talks about looking after our world, in school we have a prayer table in the Hall about this, looking after our world, Laudato Sí. Pope Francis is continuing God’s work in helping to create a better world with our help.

Use this clip to watch an animation about what Pope Francis says.

This weeks task for RE, I would like you to draw a rainbow. A symbol to say thank you and spread hope for a happier time, a time where we can all be together again! heart

Art

In the film version of the story, the boy comes across an Octopus. Can you design your very own sea creature!

Science

  • Find out about penguins... Where can you find them? How are they adapted to living in that environment? What do they eat?? (Linking with your Literacy)
  • Think about floating and sinking... Why does the row boat float?

PSHE

  • Think about how the boy might be feeling when the penguin first arrives at his door.
  • The boy made a mistake leaving the penguin at the South Pole. Discuss mistakes that you might have made in the past. How did you resolve them?
  • The penguin was lonely... Think about what is means to be lonely and how we can help others when they are feeling lonely. What can we do when we feel lonely ourselves?

Keep the emails coming Year 2, it is lovely to hear off you! I hope we can all see each other very very soon!

Lots of Love and I miss you all,

Miss Walker heart

Hello Everyone!

How are you all!? Happy Bank Holiday!

Thank you for the emails and all of your hard work! You are all doing amazing. smiley I know things are rather tricky at the moment and you're at home surrounded by your family and toys and the last thing you want to do is work or log onto purple mash but remember just a little bit a day! YOU CAN DO IT!!

I have stumbled upon some golden oldies (that's what old people like me call "old pictures") and I thought I would share them with you! Ask your mums and dads if you can have a look through some old photographs from when you were little. What do you remember?

This is me and my younger brother Jack smiley

(And before you ask, I am not sure if I can still reach my foot to my mouth!) laugh

Remember you can do this! This weeks tasks :)

Literacy

On purple mash there are few activities this week.

  • Chapter 5 (Final chapter of Magic in the Moonlight)

  • Subordination - when, if, that and because
  • Comparative Adjectives - small, smaller, smallest, big, bigger, biggest.

  • African
  • Diwali
  • Samba

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zdjnvcw/resources/1

Can you write a review? Can you have a go at copying the dancers?

Which was your favourite? Why? Which was your least favourite? Which one did you find the hardest? Why do you think that is?

Then pick your favourite song and have a dance to it :) Send your videos to our class email at, emyear2@englishmartyrs.lancs.sch.uk

Looking forward to watching them wink

Science

I have found a brilliant website where you can have a go at completing your very own science experiments.

Good Morning Everyone!

Happy Monday!!

Just thought I would share some pictures of Penny. We have been exploring lots of new places and staying safe. She is loving being back with her brother Cody!! Penny has also had a fresh trim!! Much needed when the weather is warm! Look how happy she is! We had just finished playing 'fetch' on the park!

Literacy

On purple mash there are two activities this week.

1. Making Lists - remember when creating a list we use commas and then before the last item in our list we put an ....... AND. "Penny went to the park and she played with Cody, Miss Walker, a stick and a ball. "

2. Lily's Dog - This task focuses on apostrophes whether it's a contraction or for possession.

For example:

Contraction - would not = wouldn't

                      you are = you're

                      it is = it's

Possession - The bag belongs to Miss Walker = Miss Walker's bag.

Cody is playing with the ball that belongs to Penny = Cody is playing with                                    Penny's ball.

Maths

  • Telling the time - O'clock
  • Telling the time - Quarter Past
