Swirly Snails!

This week let's look at all things snails! I have found lots in my garden this week! Have you found any recently?

Start by listening to 'the snail and the whale' story below. Maybe you have this book at home too. Can you recognise any rhyming words? This is good for phonics work.

The Snail and the Whale | Julia Donaldson | Axel Scheffler | children's book | Story time

The Snail and the Whale is a children's book by former children's laureate Julia Donaldson, illustrated by longtime collaborator Axel Scheffler.

Look at their swirly shells!

Can you draw a snail? I wonder if you can give your snail a swirly shell using your pencil without taking it off the page? It's tricky but good handwriting practice!

Could you try to create a snail with items you have at home? Below are some ideas to help you.

Crafty Snail Ideas

S is for snail

Begin but stressing the initial sound ssssssssssnail! Can you hear the first sound? sssssss Can you think of anything else that begins with the same sound? Maybe have a go at drawing the letter too!
