Welcome to Year 5

Hello and welcome to Year 5

I would like to take this opportunity to let you all know how well your children have settled in to their new routine. 

The children have been working hard on their place value skills in mathematics and they have made some great  progression in rounding numbers up to six digits and in some cases seven digits! Well done everyone :)

In English, we are currently enjoying learning about The Blitz in WW2. We have created some fantastic diary entries and we are currently looking at suitable materials to make our own Anderson shelters for a science experiment. 

Your children have had a great start to the new term and we look forward to some great  learning throughout the year.

Homework

Homework is Thursday to Wednesday and will alternate between 'mymaths' and comprehension work alongside weekly spellings. The children are expected to read every night and get their reading diaries signed. This is very important good readers always make good writers!

PE

Please remember to have the correct PE kit for Thursdays. Children must not wear earrings for PE and hair must be tied up.
